WAINUI School children took their new tablet IT tools out for a spin on a marine research project at the wharf yesterday.

The young scientists discovered the harbour was the biggest nursery for baby crayfish in New Zealand.

“No one can tell us the reason but we are most interested in finding out some answers. They come in pulses — in millions on the tide,” said marine researcher Bill Ruru.

“No one can tell us why. I reckon our bright kids today will tell us all soon enough.”
